Safety and Health Policy Elkhorn is active in a full-time Safety and Health Program with personnel committed to coordinating their efforts in productivity with safety and compliance to client and regulatory requirements. The concept that all accidents are preventable is at the essence of Elkhorn's core values. Accordingly, we are committed to achieving and sustaining "Zero Accidents" performance through continuous improvement practices. The achievement of an accident free work environment requires the commitment of management, active involvement of employees, and partnering with customers dedicated to this cause. It is the intent of Elkhorn to provide each employee with a work environment free of recognized or potential hazards, involve employees in the safety and health process, and provide the training and supervision necessary for employees to perform their work in a safe and healthful manner. Safety and Health Organization
Implementation of Construction Safety Prior to the commencement of many work activities, Elkhorn develops and implements a Project Specific Safety and Health Plan which incorporates customer, Elkhorn, and statutory regulations. This plan applies to all Elkhorn employees, subcontractors, and other employers. The Project Manager and/or Safety Supervisor is responsible for the development of this plan with the project management team and the customer. The Corporate Safety Director is responsible for approval of this document prior to its distribution and implementation. This plan incorporates all environmental, safety, health, and training requirements that apply to the scope of the project and work activities.
Upon completion, the Project Safety and Health Plan will become a contract document. Each subcontractor and any other employer who will perform work for the project will be required to have a Safety and Health Plan which meets the standards and specifications of the Project Safety and Health Plan. Prior to mobilization, a meeting will be held with each subcontractor to review the project safety and health requirements. This meeting is coordinated by the Project Manager. Those who attend this meeting include the Subcontractor Site Manager, Project Safety Supervisor, and the Subcontractor Safety Representative. |
